I am so excited! I’ve worked on this here video for a good couple of weeks, overcome a few technical difficulties and made a few things creatively that I never have before. It’s a bit rough, you can hear all the background sounds (planes, birds, cars), there are watermarks I can’t get rid of and I had to correct a few things that I forgot while filming, but I’m proud. It’s done! And I think you might just love it!
I know it’s not Game of Thrones, but at least while you wait for that, you can take 10 minutes to enjoy my new format/intro. And I’d love to see you make the recipe! It truly is delicious, and simple to boot.

Its no secret that I, still at age 27, have the occasional acne outbreak. A couple of years ago I had constant acne on my chin while my body slowly processed the 1 years’ worth of depo-provera, a contraception injection high in progesterone that I took long before making informed decisions about my health was important to me, because I was terrible at taking the pill every day. My chin was constantly erupting in painful blemishes and “whiteheads” surrounded by purple, scarred skin and at that point it didn’t seem to matter what I did – it had been a good year since I had an acne-free day, and it sucked.
Today (and for at least the last year or so) my skin is doing heaps better. I still get acne occasionally, and it still sucks, but its nowhere near as bad, and it occasionally occurs in places different to just my chin. I have learnt what works for my own skin (FINALLY) and I now know that when I do get a break out, its time to take a good hard look at what I’ve been doing to my body, because I treat the breakout as a cry for help. In natural medicine, we look at skin as a reflection of health on the inside, and acne in certain areas can show distress to certain systems on the inside. I know my own causes for acne, and my own areas of nurture when it comes to my health. So when I’ve got another breakout, I treat it as my body saying, “Hey you! Shit is getting real down here and you’ve been letting yourself get away with this for too long!” because the realisation that I’ve been a bit too indulgent of late is literally smacking me in the face. If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you’ve probably noticed that I really really (REALLY) love tea. I love a hot cup of earl grey on a cold and slow morning, I love a bubbly and naturally sweet iced tea in the summer time, I love collecting new flavours and I even bathe in the stuff! But the thing I love most about tea is discovering the medicinal properties of the different herbs – meaning that you can drink specific teas to help your body do its thing!
From time to time, I’d like to explore with you these medicinal properties (goodness knows I need another reason to drink more tea, don’t I?) in my Tea Fiend series. Just remember, if you are going to explore these options, best to opt for organic tea (I’d be happy to give you a guide to my favourite brands within this series – just ask!), and don’t be afraid to try a pre-made blend (it will only taste better that way) or even experiment in blending stand-alone herbs that you like (you never know what you will come up with).
