You know those days where you just can’t help but focus on the negative? Perhaps something tragic has happened in your life, or you just seem to be having one of those days; your negative mindset seems to permeate everything, and negative things pile on top of one another for a big part of the day.
However, have you ever noticed that on days where you’re feeling good, things just tend to go your way?
This, my friends, is the power of a positive mindset. The Law of Attraction. When you’re feeling good, you attract the good – god knows, that’s something I want more of in my life, and I’m sure you do too.
Now, let’s be clear; having a positive mindset is not about being unrealistic in your reaction to things, or pushing your feelings aside. If something makes you angry or sad, make sure you allow yourself to feel that within your body, really feel the feelings.
Instead, having a positive mindset is about noticing when your negative attitude is prolonged, when you are wallowing, and it is permeating your life, then you actually doing something about it.
We all have the power to change how we feel and react at any given moment, and it’s actually a really simple method to go from ‘urgh…’ to ‘YASS!’ in a matter of moments.
Sometimes the simple things are all we need to create real change.
So, how do we get you out of a funk?
We Focus on Finding What Feels Good
And when I say good, I don’t mean that feeling you get when you eat a donut, and eventually end up filled with regret – I mean, jump up and down, yelling, “I feel amazing!” good. The type of good that has you feeling confident and sexy and ready to take on the world.
Start by writing a list of the things that make you feel that way;
- Dancing around your living room
- Your favourite class at the gym
- Playing with your dog
- Have a meaningful conversation with a friend
- Being of service to someone
- Having an orgasm
- Whatever it is that makes YOU feel freaking AMAZING!
Next, start to recognise when you’re feeling sad, stressed, flustered, grumpy, negative, frumpy, etc. This can be quick, or it may take you a few hours to fully recognise your attitude, but when you do, THIS is when you act. Do something from your I-feel-amazing list and DO IT!
Just remember, the way we feel is a choice. You can choose to wallow and see the negative and play the victim – I am not at all immune to doing this, by the way – and you can choose to see big, bright and positive picture, be present, be excited, and feel effing great!
Outside things are always going to happen, good and bad, but if we dwell on the negative we’re not only going to miss the good, it may even pass us by altogether.
Don’t forget, life doesn’t happen to us, it happens for us.
There is always a lesson to learn from negative experiences. If we never had bad and difficult things happen to us, we would not grow and evolve as people. But that doesn’t mean we have to allow the bad to swallow up the opportunity for good things to happen to us. After all, what is the point of life, if we don’t get to enjoy it?
